Character Guide: Contract Wife Gone
Episode 9 · English · 9 episodes
The story
Yi Luo'en is a gifted criminal profiler who sets her own ambitions aside for a five-year contract marriage with Drew, the CEO of the Hamilton Group. The arrangement gives her the money her critically ill father needs, and in exchange she devotes herself to Drew, nursing him through recovery after a near-fatal wingsuit accident. Their daughter, Freya, is born into this bargain.
Everything shifts when Drew's first love, Sela, reappears. Sela spreads lies and sows discord, and Drew believes her. Misled, he shoves Yi Luo'en hard enough to injure her badly, then forces his frail wife to give a blood transfusion for Sela and to kneel in penance through an entire night. By the time the contract expires, Yi Luo'en carries deep wounds. She gathers proof of what Sela has done, signs the divorce and child-relinquishment papers, burns what remains of her past, and boards a flight to Los Angeles. Yi Luo'en trades a promising profiling career for a contract that keeps her father alive. Drew, CEO of the Hamilton Group, is nursed back from a wingsuit accident by the wife he later doubts. Freya is the daughter born inside a marriage built on a five-year bargain. Sela, Drew's first love, returns and drives a wedge between husband and wife with lies. The expired contract becomes Yi Luo'en's exit, sealed by evidence and a flight to Los Angeles.
