Janet, the Lind family's adopted daughter, catches her boyfriend cheating with her stepsister Jocelyn and ends things. Jocelyn, to escape an arranged marriage to the landless knight Arthur, fakes a pregnancy, and Janet's adoptive mother forces Janet to take her place. Janet marries Arthur under a hands-off agreement and starts working at Knight Guild, where she faces jealousy from Elaine and harassment from Lyman.

Arthur steps in quietly every time, and Janet's heart begins to stir. While she hides the truth about her identity, Arthur hides his own, he is the King of Knights: Their bond deepens under lies and trust, leading to one final confession.
