The story

In 1865, modern-day special forces soldier Martin wakes in a wounded Union engineer's body. His brother was driven to death by creditors, leaving $2,500 in debt, a crumbling cabin, and widow Susan, terrorized by thugs. When a creditor assaults Susan, Martin intervenes.
Cole returns with armed men, threatening to take her. Martin fights them off, then uses military engineering to transform the cabin into a fortified stronghold—reinforced walls, observation points, and an early-warning perimeter. He tackles food shortages, disease, and ammunition limits, pays off the debts, and builds his reputation as the frontier's fearless protector.
