Gu Hao, after a fierce argument with his family, leaves home to prove himself. On his journey, a car accident leads him to mistakenly believe that Lin Xiyue is the one who saved and meticulously cared for him, when it was actually her sister, Lin Xixing. He subsequently marries Lin Xiyue. However, after marriage, Lin Xiyue constantly spends time with her male best friend, Lu Xuchen. Unfortunately, Gu Hao accidentally develops uremia and requires treatment. Due to the high medical costs, Lu Xuchen brainwashes Lin Xiyue, convincing her that such a man is useless to keep around (especially since she is pregnant). He advises her to prioritize having a "backup plan" and suggests she abort the child.
