Trials of Love & Absurdity

A debt of five yuan plunges an ordinary man into a surreal quest to save his comatose friend. Trapped in a bizarre realm as a living alarm bell, Wang Xuan must brave five twisted fantasy prisons—from a waterlogged childhood memory ruled by sorrow, to a beast world where humans are pampered pets. Along the way, he battles manifestations of bullying and apathy, falls for a love spirit who sacrifices herself, and learns the true meaning of equality from a loyal dog.

Each prison challenges his heart more than his courage, leaving him with strange tokens and profound lessons. When he finally returns with the cure, the adventure fades like a dream, but the tangible mementos left behind—and the man he has become—prove that the most absurd journeys can lead to the most genuine growth.
