To break the curse of the Crown of the Black Tide, Alphonse Crowe, the former Pirate King living under a false name, escorts Aria Lothian in search of the sunken city of Nelsora. Along the way, he battles a dark god, unravels the Empire's conspiracy, and reunites with the ghosts of his old crew.

Making peace with the past, he finds his redemption at last, and sets sail on a new course with the two women at his side.
