The story

Janet, the adopted daughter of the Lind family, catches her boyfriend cheating with her stepsister Jocelyn and ends things. To escape an arranged marriage to the landless knight Arthur, Jocelyn fakes a pregnancy, and Janet's stepmother forces Janet to take her place. Janet marries Arthur under a hands-off agreement and starts working at the Knight Guild, where she faces jealousy from Elaine and harassment from Lyman.
