Six years ago, Kaelen, Lord of the High Court, lost his beloved half-elven partner Elara. She took a poisoned strike meant for him and fell into the abyss. He never believed her dead. In truth, Elara survived, gave birth to their daughter, and has been imprisoned ever since.

Their pure light exploited to create star-glass crystals while Elara burns away her own fëa to protect her child. When a blood-stained crystal reaches Kaelen, he follows its call, only to be blocked by deception and false identities. As truth surfaces, he finds his dying wife and abused daughter. But their reunion is only the beginning: Malekith, architect of the tragedy, returns with dark schemes against the throne.
