Rose Hawkins passed out giving birth to boy-girl twins, Trent and Lily. Lily was saved by Maxwell Sterling and renamed Aurora Sterling. Twenty-five years later, Trent is a company VP, while Aurora inherits the Sterling Group. A blood test reveals Aurora's true paternity, prompting her to search for her birth mother in Oakhaven County with half a jade pendant.
There, she rescues a fainted fruit vendor, Rose. Facing $20,000 in medical bills for his mother, Trent is coaxed by his girlfriend, Jade Monroe, into selling Rose to Otis Hawkins for a ghost marriage to fund his bride price. Aurora soon discovers Rose is her mother, crashes the wedding to expose Trent, and reunites with Rose using the pendant. Ultimately, Trent and Jade are banished to the African mines, while Otis Hawkins's family is driven out of the village.
