The man in the closet

The story
I am Vanessa Warren, mother of a five-year-old girl living in Greenwich, Connecticut. My husband, Ethan Chandler, a project manager at a tech company, left for a business trip to San Francisco two months ago.
Everything seemed normal—until my daughter Lily whispered in my ear at the school gate: "Mommy, Daddy isn't in San Francisco. He lives in the closet."
